Working with Clients with Addiction Issues

About the workshop

This is a three-hour workshop looking at ways of working with those with addiction issues. We will explore a range of issues including: motivation for change, maintaining a life style balance and preventing relapse. Working with addiction is not easy and many people avoid it due to their lack of experience, however, it can be immensely rewarding for the addict as well as the therapist.

This training will offer ideas and tools to help to equip you to counsel addicts (substance and non-substance). This workshop will not turn you into an addiction counsellor, but will enable you to feel more confident in working with these issues.

Who is it for?

The training is aimed at students and practicing counsellors.

What will I do on this workshop?

Attendees should be willing to work in groups and take part in role-plays as well as use the skills they have learned on prior counselling training.

About the trainer

RAY BURNS is an integrative counsellor with many years’ experience working with addiction as well as developing services for addicts. Ray has his own private practice and is also a director of Cara Counselling Training.
